We operate a DHC-2 Beaver in our Airtaxi Service and provide unguided, drop-off hunts at competitive prices. The cost and terms of the moose hunts are as follows:
The cost of the moose hunt is based on a charter price of $750 per hour. Payload (clients + gear) for the Beaver is 1200 pounds. The cost of the hunt is dependent on many factors; aerial survey time, distance flown to hunting site, hunting group's total weight & number of trips it takes, as well as the number of animals harvested. Hunters should expect to pay from $1000 to $1600 per person.
I place the majority of moose hunter's on small lakes where I have seen moose and the terrain is adequate for walking and hunting. We have some spectacular lakes in the Wood-Tikchik Park for moose hunts. One option is to go to one of the many big lakes with an inflatable boat and outboard motor, which provides access to a greater hunting area. We rent inflatable boats, with a motor, for $100/day.
Another option is to float a river and hunt for moose but this is now quite limited for non-resident hunters due to ADF&G regulation changes. Please see the ADF&G web site for current regulations. We will be happy to give you a price for the float trips. Call for a quote for the King Salmon, Nushagak, Nuyakuk, and Tikchik Rivers if you are a non-resident. Non-residents are required to have a registration permit for the Nushagak and Mulchatna drainages. This permit must be picked up in person from the Dillingham ADF&G office by August 31st. ADF&G in Dillingham 907-842-2334. The Tikchik River requires a permit from the Wood-Tikchik State Park, 907-842-2375. Call us for a quote for the Kokwok or Iowithla Rivers in addition to the previously named rivers if you are a resident. We rent inflatable rafts with a rowing frame for $80/day.
